Featured Biography:  Mrs. Dee Strubb, President

I, Dee Strubb, President of Turid Jespersen Lodge #44, am proud of my heritage, 3/4 Norwegian and 1/4 Swede.  My husband and I met a genealogist in Lonsboda, Sweden who recognized my great grandmother, Karna Folgelberg's name.  We were related.  In Lillehammer, Norway, I found records of my grandparents, Mathais Arnes, and Knute Olsen and traced their lineage back to the early 1700's.
I was born August 27, in a little town in northern Wisconsin where my grandparents had settled.  My favorite memories include going to Grandma's house where the coffee pot would boil on the wood stove.  My parents went farming when I was seven and I had to help do chores when my brothers went into the army in WWII.  We were all blond, blue-eyed Scandinavians and enjoyed our many cousins, running and playing in the open fields and pastures.
I attended a two-room school house where I was teacher's pet.  I've enjoyed school and became a teacher myself.   I graduated from High School at 16 and worked a year at the local drug store.  It was as a soda jerk that I met my future husband.  He swept me off my feet, a handsome guy from California, and after a 3 year cross country courtship, we married 3 weeks before he shipped out to Korea for a year.
