My name is Barbara Stewart. I was born October l, l933 in Evanston, Illinois and moved to San Gabriel Valley when I was nine. I graduated from Alhambra High School. After working forty years for Ingram Paper Company, they were bought by International Paper. I retired soon after and moved to Pacifica near San Francisco. My cousin, Gerry, and her sister live in the area so I had family nearby. Gerry, and I joined Daughters of Norway in San Francisco in 1998 after going to Norway Day. We also joined Sons of Norway. Our mothers, who were twins, did not tell us much about our heritage; only that Grandma was the first white child in Fargo, North Dakota. We enjoyed Daughters of Norway very much so I was delighted when Gerry told me a lodge was being formed in Orange County thanks to Berit. Gerry and I attended an Elderhostel in North Dakota on genealogy in the area where our ancestors lived and did some research. One thing we found on the Internet was a cousin in the San Diego area. She invited me to a family reunion this past year and I found about sixty new relatives. Great fun. I now live in Leisure World and love it. I moved back to this area to be near my best friend and her family. She has five grandchildren she shares with me and I enjoy watching them grow up. Life is good.
